About No Waste Chair
Since 2021

No Waste Chair was born from a passion for sustainability and design, founded by Kees Dekkers. When he had to graduate from the Amsterdam Wood and Furniture College, Kees was inspired by the amount of waste that industry and households produce on a daily basis. He saw the beauty in what others considered useless and decided to transform this vision into functional art.

The idea became reality when he was able to actually make the fillable chair and he started collecting discarded materials, street waste from his parental village, wood shavings and corona waste. Each piece tells a story, not only about the content itself, but also about the possibility for transformation and renewal.

Kees' first creations quickly attracted the attention of a wider audience. His study immediately bought a chair made from her own waste and Her Majesty the Queen herself was the second to want a chair in her collection. This interest led to the official launch of No Waste Chair, with the aim of stimulating the dialogue on sustainability and conscious consumption in society. By breathing new life into waste and turning it into something beautiful and useful, No Waste Chair aims to inspire people to look at waste differently and take action towards a more sustainable future.

Over No Waste Kees
Kees Dekkers, 1995

Kees is originally from Amsterdam but grew up in the quiet Brummen. He played football there his whole life and has been sailing since he was a child. When he was young he did a lot of odd jobs with his father where he learned ''use what you already have''.

After graduating from the Vrije School, a school that promotes creative expression and innovative thinking, Kees continued his studies at the Hout en Meubilering College, where he graduated in 2021. His projects reflect his dedication to sustainability and his ability to transform everyday materials into both functional and artistic creations. Each of Kees’ designs is an expression of his personal journey and an attempt to inspire others.
